SEO can be categorized into two categories: 
On-page SEO- It involves all the on-site techniques you employ to ensure that a webpage will rank on a SERP. This includes It includes providing good content, good keywords selection, putting keywords on correct places, giving appropriate  title tags, site speed,  URL Structure, image alt tags, internal linking and more. 
Off-page SEO- It involves all the activities that you do away from your website to raise the ranking on SERP. It is entirely based on links to your site from other sites. Back links is the heart of off page SEO.
Here is a quick overview of how SEO work….
Step 1:  Keyword Research
Keywords are the words and phrase that user’s type into Google.
